“To get the life you love, begin by loving the life you’ve got”

“But what if I don’t like what I’ve got?” – Let’s look at an example; If you want to be more relaxed, notice when you have relaxing moments, if you don’t seem to have any, notice when you have opportunities to relax and decide “do I want to choose to use those times to relax?”. Start small of necessary, just 5 minutes of quiet time can make a whole world of difference.

Here’s a short story of a moment when I realised this concept for real.
I was thinking about how much I’d like to move out of the city to somewhere I could hear the birds singing and watch the trees. I looked for a CD of birdsong I had once bought, and having found it I put it in the CD player. Before it had chance to begin, I heard something. On opening my window I realised there were birds singing outside! From then on I started noticing how many birds I could hear now my ears were open to the possibility and how many trees there were, even in the heart of the city. Noticing what you want and focussing on it, that’s how we can begin to make changes. I haven’t yet moved to the countryside but while I’m making those plans I can enjoy a taste of what’s to come. I now grow my own vegetables and plan which chickens I’ll have, sit on the grass and breathe in the scent of the garden, curling my bare toes in the cool green.

Plan for the life you want while you find ways to enjoy the life you have…you might just surprise yourself by finding something you didn’t notice before…
